• CasualVox: I’m tired of all this winning Grandpa…

B.C. judge tosses drug case, says U.S. agents broke law and violated Canadian sovereignty (r/news)

• BananasPineapple05: At a guess, I think the lack of collaboration with or transparency towards the RCMP was the sticking issue here.
• Satansleadguitarist: Wait, are you telling me that an American federal agency didn’t respect foreign borders? Crazy…
• SnuffleWarrior: The US agents should be arrested

What is a subtle sign that someone is an incredibly toxic person, even if they seem completely nice at first? (r/AskReddit)

• Umbrosyx: they remember your mistakes forever but somehow forget every time they’ve hurt you

US diesel price average crosses \$6 a gallon for the first time, GasBuddy says (r/news)

• PlasticBirds: Why would Binden do this
• Redshadow30: Oh boy. Cant wait for the rational discussion on how this is obamas fault.
• MantisShrimpUpTop: Has he tried tariffing the gas stations?

Former Colorado crime analyst gets 10-year prison sentence for manipulating DNA data (r/news)

• 5Finger_discount: Really lacks any detail of what she actually did.. like what exactly type of tampering did she do?
• The_Shryk: So she wasn’t malicious in the sense of some moral fueled vigilantism but cost cutting and stat padding?
• mathematicosGr: I’m 100% sure every single case she’s ever worked on will be challenged.

Who was the smartest person in your high school class and what are they doing now? (r/AskReddit)

• Odd_Doughnut_7178: For me it was a guy who flew under the radar and was incredibly brilliant. In high school, he programmed Zelda into his Texas Instruments graphing calculator played it during lunch. He is now a ranking member of the U.S. Army.
• Plane-Brilliant8361: A guy who never studied, slept through calculus, and casually won state science fairs without trying. We all assumed he’d end up working at NASA or CERN. Instead, he figured out how search engine algorithms worked in the late 2000s, built a hyper-specific digital marketing empire, and retired to Spain before turning 30.
• acappre: The top student was a quiet AP and science competition star. Now she works as a computational biotech research scientist, focused on disease research, living modestly.

Astronomers and cosmologists of Reddit, what is one fact about the universe that sounds completely impossible to a layperson but is actually true? (r/AskReddit)

• MapWise3890: Here’s a crazy one: if you took all the DNA in your body and stretched it out end to end, it would be roughly 42 billion miles long. That’s enough to go from Earth to the Sun and back more than 200 times. All of that DNA is packed inside microscopic cells.
• astronemma: The fact that the Sun and the Moon appear roughly the same size in the sky is a complete cosmic coincidence. The Sun is 400x larger than the Moon in diameter, but it’s also 400x further away. We don’t know of any other Sun-Planet-Moon system that has this same 1:1 ratio. Experiencing a total solar eclipse — where a moon is just large enough to cover the star’s photosphere, but not so big that it blocks the view of the surrounding corona — is a Universally unique experience.
• MatthewHecht: An ancient Greek scientist calculated the size of the Earth using shadows. He was less than 1% off.

What is the worst use of cash windfall you’ve ever seen? (r/AskReddit)

• Mopper300: Probably not a windfall, but some years ago I was in the casino on a Friday evening and some guy walks up to the Pai Gow table, takes out an envelope STUFFED with bills, puts half the bills on the table, loses the hand, pulls out the other half of the bills, loses again, and walks away really, really pissed.
• Old_Imagination_2112: People from our church inherited just more than a million. Bought a new truck and went to the casino until all was gone.
• stephenBB81: A guy at my Marina won 50 million(no taxes) , upgraded his boat, got a Lambo, his brother got a Ferrari, a big pickup and some seadoos, and went on trips, within 4 years he had to sell all the toys and was broke working as a labourer in construction. Burning 50 Mil in 4 years is crazy bad management.

US Marshals find 79 missing children in Ohio during Operation Meridian (r/news)

• phznmshr: We have to keep up the ruse that every stranger is an enemy. It always starts with think of the children to get us to hate our neighbors. I’m so tired of being told to fear everyone and everything while the real enemy is picking mine and everyone else’s pockets.
• 09f3jns: Just about every AMBER Alert in my area happens after one parent violates custody. Those are important calls, but that’s not what anyone thinks about when thinking about child abduction, which is what the AMBER Alert system was made for.
• Thelonius_Dunk: Im curious how many Amber Alerts are custody cases too. Ive heard its pretty common but don’t know the stats on it.

The Tate brothers must stay locked up during their UK extradition fight, US judge says (r/news)

People whose job is to read strangers for a living (poker dealers, bartenders, TSA agents, loss prevention): what’s the tell you clock in the first 10 seconds that people don’t realize they’re broadcasting? (r/AskReddit)

• Quick-Operation4805: It’s crucial to have a baseline before you can give a good read.

• snowflake-57: Various private security roles: someone who is carrying a weapon, who isn’t proficient at carrying weapons, will be constantly fidgeting around wherever it’s concealed to reassure themselves that it’s still there. Caught more than a few knives from people nervously playing with their pockets.

Amazon Cargo Boeing 767 Crashes At Miami International Airport (r/news)

• firefaery: Hope the folks that were on that plane are okay
• DarkBomberX: If the photos are anything to go by, hopefully the crew is okay. Looks like the cockpit is intact.
• Grown-Ass-Weeb: 24FlightRadar is showing a lot of planes being diverted to Ft Lauderdale, Tampa, and Orlando. And some being routed to the Dominican Republic or returning to where they came from in South America. I’d hate to be the ATC workers right now.

US carrier Abraham Lincoln departs Thailand after respite visit (r/news)

• Meta2048: I know a couple people in Pattaya where they docked and they said there wasn’t a very noticable increase in tourists. They saw some small groups (3-5 people) of likely sailors wandering around but nothing crazy.
• southendgirl: After 250 days, they only got 5 days in port??? Couldn’t they get 10 days since their carrier just broke the record?
• Cmd3055: All these people taking pictures of the aircraft carrier somehow made me think of what it might have been like to watch the last Roman legions march by as they were leaving Britain.

What’s a common ingredient that completely ruins a dish for you, no matter how small the amount? (r/AskReddit)

• sailphish: Maybe not super common, but lavender. I’ve never had something with lavender that wouldn’t have been better without the lavender. I feel like they put it in deserts to be fancy, but the food just ends up smelling like laundry detergent.
• BrianKronberg: Shell. Sorry Maryland, getting shell in my crab cakes does not prove it’s real, it proves laziness in the kitchen.
• papasmurf303: Anything that touched a silicone utensil that’s been through the dishwasher. Apparently I’m one of the lucky few who has the receptors for it, and it makes anything taste like pure dish soap was added to it.

For the men with more life experience, what’s one lesson you learned the hard way that every young man should know? (r/AskReddit)

• Artofxian: People either like you or they don’t. You can’t make people like you the way you like them
• Specialist_Gas_8984: Meaningful male friendships get increasingly harder to make as you get older. Don’t take your existing ones for granted, invest in them, make time for each other, even as life gets increasingly busy and pulls you in different directions.
• Hogjocky62: Never respond to a major problem instantly. Think about it for hours or days and respond firmly with a steadfast plan. Never make large financial decisions based on emotion! Walk out of the negotiations at least twice before signing!

• Squildo: I wonder how long the PowerPoint lesson on how to correctly insert an NG tube will be

Constitution doesn’t include right to clean water, federal court rules (r/news)

• moogoo2: Wonder what they think “promote the general welfare” means?
• Grey-Squirrel-World: That is why they passed the Clean Water Act in 1972.
• wallyrules75: Because when the laws were written no one thought we would be sooo stupid to ruin our water sources. So this judge sides with stupidity that benefits the few over the welfare of the masses.

What’s the worst carcinogen most of us are unknowingly inhaling or ingesting every single day? (r/AskReddit)

• yoc0__0: It’s 100% radon gas, and nobody talks about it. It’s the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer and primary cause for non-smokers. I discovered we had a radon issue in my new house when I moved in. Was the equivalent of smoking a pack of cigarettes a day just breathing the air in the basement, half a pack upstairs, and the issue wasn’t even as bad as a lot of people’s radon levels. It’s terrible for you and it depends on where you live geographically with how bad it is, but damn near everyone should get radon mitigation.
• GuyWalksOutOfABar: From all the responses, apparently it is breathing, eating, and touching.
• Gerble66: We’re learning a lot right now about how harmful tires are. When they wear down, they spread micro plastic debris and other materials which are harmful to basically all life.

You’re dropped into a medieval battle in a tank with giant speakers — what song do you blast to terrify an army that’s never heard recorded sound? (r/AskReddit)

• MrOxion: Any Mick Gordon song from the Doom soundtracks (especially “the only thing they fear is you”)
• ShufflingToGlory: Probably some haunting contemporary hymn, sung by a large choir. You’d want them to think God’s judgement had arrived to take them to hell.
• TenaciousLilMonkey: THX sound effect

What did you think was an American stereotype until you actually visited? (r/AskReddit)

• kinetic_honda: That Americans are very friendly. I have lived in the US now for 19 years and I can happily say that this is very true. As a brown immigrant, overwhelmingly, I have been treated very well here and people have always been very friendly.
• maxpoontang: My nephew came over from Germany and was shocked the buses were actually yellow. He enjoyed the American experience though.
• Kloppite16: Not so much of a stereotype but more so an effect. Growing up as a kid (not in US) I watched movies shot in New York and there would be steam coming out of the manholes in the street in dark scenes, think Batman. I always thought that the steam was a movie effect till I visited New York last January and the steam coming out of the manholes is definitely real. My jaw kinda dropped at seeing it and then I felt like an idiot.

What were the warning signs before someone you know killed themselves? (r/AskReddit)

• Ladybird_StBernese: I was 17, and before I went upstairs to bed, my mom gave me the longest, tightest hug I’ve ever felt from her. She was always a hugger, tons of affection. But that hug was different. I walked upstairs that night thinking “that was weird?”. That was it.
• FilthyOmnisexual: They were happy despite usually being sad/apathetic. We thought it was good, but it was finality.
• Ydain: My dad made a big point of telling me how proud of me he was and telling me he loved me. I didn’t realize he was saying goodbye until the next day.

Billionaire Leon Black skips Epstein deposition and sues House committee over subpoenas (r/news)

• TheObsidianHawk: Makes you wonder what he is hiding. You dont get this upset over nothing.
• thejonslaught: I don’t know about the rest of you, but to me these actions by Leon Black pretty much just hold a microphone to the fact that LEON BLACK IS AN ALLEGED CHILD MOLESTOR ON A LIST OF ALLEGED CHILD MOLESTORS.
• MajinSkull: What a world we live in where the rich can just skip when the government calls them in for a hearing and then sue that government

Gloria Steinem, feminist who helped change lives of US women, has died (r/news)

• Dwayla: “The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off” Gloria Steinem
• Bisjoux: So many people who have been part of my entire life are dying. Please would someone keep a close eye on Sir David Attenborough.
• onarainyafternoon: Oh damn. She was a pioneer. Everyone should learn about her. Fun fact: She was Christian Bale’s stepmother for a while.

What TV show got canceled on a massive cliffhanger that still frustrates you to this day? (r/AskReddit)

• Glass_Driver1707: Mindhunter
• lizlemonaid: Pushing Daisies.
• ScouserPants: Santa Clarita Diet. I will never forgive Netflix.

What profession wouldn’t you date? (r/AskReddit)

• candab14: An underrated one is Chef. You’ll have this vision in your head of them cooking you gourmet meals every night. That’s not remotely how it goes. First of all, they almost always work at night and on weekends since that’s when people go to restaurants. At home, they tend to make the most basic crap. The job is super stressful so they’re on edge a lot, and there’s a ton of drug usage and alcoholism among chefs. You want someone who can cook but doesn’t do it for a living.
• Rozelle97: I’m a paleontologist. Field work takes me away for months at a time, the museum pay is awful, we’ve had multiple cross country moves… my spouse is a trooper! But the majority of my colleagues are divorced or on their way there.
• jonnywarpspeed: Tennis players. Love means nothing to them

What’s the sickest you’ve ever been in your life? (r/AskReddit)

• BobTheSkutter: Right now. Have terminal cancer. Had my ups and downs but last week a tumour was pressing against one of my lungs and I was in unbearable pain for a few days, thankfully on good pain killers now. But had 90% of my stomach removed, most of my esophagus removed and a years worth of chemo so far. Despite that my spirits are still high and I’m enjoying time with my friends and family and getting out there doing shit.
• 1929_Sears_Crescent: Out doing errands one beautiful day and my throat starts to close up. I stop in at local urge t care on the way home and they give me a shot of Benedryl which has no effect. They then tell me I need to go to the ER. I say sure, no problem. As I think they are kindly walking with me out the door, I see an ambulance outside and it’s for me! They meant now. ER now. I vaguely remember the ride to the hospital. Woke up 5 days later in the ICU. I had been on a ventilator 5 days. I had developed an allergy to a blood pressure medication I had been on for years. Now the entire class of medication will induce anaphylaxis.
• ZephyrGale143: Lifesaving chemo. It kicked my ass but also cancer’s ass.

China presses the US for answers after a man dies hours after entering ICE custody (r/news)

• freedfg: Yeaaaah. It’s gonna get really messy when other countries start questioning….and sanctioning the US.
• ElectronicMoo: I thought Japanese internment camps were bad learning about them growing up. It’s boggling my mind we are back there again. Regressive.
• soulless___ape: China calling the US out on human rights… we are lost as a country.

Pennsylvania police officer charged in fatal shooting of student who went to wrong house. “At the time these two fatal shots were fired, Mr. Pysher had his hands up” (r/news)

• SlinkyMalinky20: This is horrendous. That poor kid and his family.
• Erion7: The fact that this POS cop got caught on camera blatantly lying about what was captured on his own bodycam is absolutely unsurprising.
• statslady23: I know a handful of drunk people who have gone to the wrong house. I know two who went in and slept. One didn’t find out til morning, and the people who owned the house that he had never met before made him breakfast. None of the people I know got shot. One did get arrested.

People over 30, what’s something you DON’T regret doing in your 20s? (r/AskReddit)

• VagabondAlbertan: Partying. Sounds stupid but enjoy hanging out with your friends before everyone has kids and responsibilities
• ducklady92: Traveling before I was too tied down to relationships/pets/jobs to do so on a whim. I used to spend every last dime on one-way tickets and just… move somewhere new for awhile. I feel like i learned so much about who i was during those times. Now I travel much less frequently but I’m not sore about it, because I jam-packed so much life experience into a few short years.
• Asleep_Panda_7482: Not having everything figured out. Your 20s are basically the tutorial level

Doctors of reddit, what was the biggest medical mystery/anomaly that you have come across? (r/AskReddit)

• catrosie: Had a patient who was being treated for low BP by her PCP but her blood pressure continued to be low so she was sent to cardiology where we did a work up but couldn’t find anything wrong. BP continued to be low even maxed out on midodrine. I checked both arms, BP was 80/40 on the left, 180/100 on the right. Checked her carotids and sure enough I heard a bruit. Sent her for a scan and we found she had subclavian steal syndrome and significant stenosis to the left arm arteries. She was being treated for hypotension for months when she actually had severe HYPERTENSION but they had been checking the wrong arm. Sent her to a vascular surgeon who cleared her arteries and I got her on antihypertensives and she stabilized! Now I tell everybody to ALWAYS check BOTH arms if something seems off
• Amadeusodo: I had a patient once come in with tinnitus and on a hunch decided to check an aspirin level - it was sky high and we got her into emergent dialysis. Super lucky catch.
• Racazuzu: This didn’t happen to me, but to my brother when he was in med school & dissecting his first cadaver. As they started working, my bro & his group were getting more & more freaked out because they couldn’t find certain structures where they were supposed to be. It wasn’t until they cracked the sternum & saw the heart on the right side of the body that they realised this person had situs inversus - a condition where all the organs in the torso & abdomen are essentially flipped. It’s pretty rare and odd but doesn’t pose a risk to health, and some people go through life without even knowing they have it.

Who is the most hated comedian among comedians and audiences? (r/AskReddit)

• Due-Amoeba-1519: Carlos Mencia managed to make joke-stealing so blatant that even other comics who usually stay quiet started calling him out by name.
• majorjoe23: I know the MST3K crew hated Gallagher. Supposedly he went through Joel Hodgson’s prop trunk backstage at a show, looking for ideas.
• eyeofnyx: Carlos Mencia is a known joke thief and his show was a rip off of Chapelle Show, and not good.

US health officials exclude measles-related deaths in Pennsylvania from counts | US healthcare (r/news)

• sck178: I hope this is the dumbest thing I read today. This admin is a joke. Too bad the joke is dangerous and unfunny
• DonManuel: Like children closing their eyes so nobody can see them.

US to announce sharply lower vehicle fuel economy requirements (r/news)

• rTpure: The United States is moving backwards
• Sweaty_Assignment_90: So that will get us out of high gas prices and an energy crunch. Winning!
• YesterShill: Because there is no better way to free America from Middle East influence than increasing our oil consumption.

Would you quit your job forever right now (and never be allowed to work again) if someone gave you a guaranteed \$2,000,000 lump sum? Why or why not? (r/AskReddit)

• justforcommentz: Yes, because added to my current savings I’d have way more than needed to support me for the rest of my life and I could just spend my days getting sick chest pumps in the gym and baking for my kids
• TrainingSword: Two million doesn’t stretch as much as it used to especially in america
• Hi-Im-High: No. It’s not enough

Police of reddit, what is something that is not illegal but most people don’t do it thinking it is? (r/AskReddit)

• dichron: In most places it is not illegal as a pedestrian to cross the street outside of designated crossings (“jaywalking”). The caveat is that you cannot impede traffic or otherwise endanger other people or yourself
• Imdoingscience: To be completely honest, the biggest thing people appear not to understand is that you should just shut all the way the fuck up. You will never talk your way out of an arrest. You can easily talk yourself into either extra charges or a conviction. In the US, it’s not just legal but entirely your right to just… not talk to the people who are trying to put you in jail.
• HelpILiveInPennridge: My dad was a lawyer. He wasn’t a cop hating lawyer at all. If I ever had a run-in with an authority figure he’d ALWAYS take their side. But I’ll never forget his advice. He told me: you are better off asking a circus clown for a legal opinion than a cop. At least a circus clown doesn’t think they’re an expert.

What personality traits do you find exhausting to deal with? (r/AskReddit)

• ImpossibleCamera4973: People that are never wrong. Always blaming others and never having any sense of introspection to maybe, just maybe, realize that they have some responsibility for the way their life is going.
• Silly_Accident3137: Constantly trying to one-up everyone to prove you’re the smartest in the room. Please just chill
• Express_Preference_3: Only talks about themselves. Never asks questions about other people
