Luigi Mangione admits to shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO as he pleads guilty in federal case (r/news)
- temujin94: Mangione’s lawyers have said they didn’t strike a plea deal, strange turn of events.
- Uzas_Was_Right: I figured he’d roll the dice for a sympathetic jury.
- Llamapocalypse_Now: Great, now let’s all move on to the national conversation about insurance companies taking your money and then deciding that you get to die in pain and poverty because they don’t want to use it to pay your healthcare bills.
Jason Arday, former Cambridge university professor, found dead after resigning following plagiarism row (r/news)
- djxcqtion: The former and current students who came forward, and anyone else who raised concerns or brought this to light, are in no way responsible for what has happened. I really hope they have people around them reminding them of that right now. It’s an incredibly sad situation, but if there are questions about how things got to this point, those are for Cambridge University and, sadly, Jason Arday himself, not the people who spoke up.
- ApprehensiveStark25: RIP but what a wild sequence of events.
- supercoolpartydude: Reading the wiki on the allegations and accusations and my man was living a Catch Me If You Can existence.
What is a skill that takes less than an hour to learn, but makes you look like an absolute genius to others ? (r/AskReddit)
- Turdulator: Vlookup/Xlookup and Pivot Tables. (Both ways of viewing data in excel). If you can use both of these quickly on the fly people who don’t know them will think you are a wizard.
- nvd20: Basic Excel formulas. People start treating you like the office wizard
- roonerspize: Backing a trailer, especially at the boat ramp.
What was a single sentence spoken by a friend or partner that instantly made you realize, ‘Oh, we are completely done’? (r/AskReddit)
- TensionElectrical910: Left for a 2 week business trip. This happened the day I got home. Ex Husband: You were gone for 2 weeks and I didnt miss you once.
- lady_mapetite: don’t give me the opportunity to hurt you again
- WilmaValley1226: I used to have a gym friend. We would work out together. We were both quite overweight when we met and stayed that way for a year or two. I finally got my shit together and started changing my habits and losing weight. A spinning teacher that we both loved said to me in passing one day, You’ve lost weight, you look terrific, good for you. My friend got this sneer on her face and said in a really nasty voice, Yeah, don’t you think she’s too thin? I was not but I knew that our friendship was not going to survive this shift, this would always come between us.
What product exists entirely because people are too lazy to do 10 seconds of effort? (r/AskReddit)
- CasualChic: Coffee pods. You can just put the coffee into a reusable pod but no one wants to do that or wash the pod after.
- MadameCat: Tbh I have a lot more patience for this stuff since I found out that a LOT of “lazy people products” are products designed for people with disabilities marketed to a wider populace to keep the company profitable/keep prices low. Slap chops, snuggies, etc.
- polkastripper: PB & J in a jar. It’s shitty PB and shitty jelly to boot.
